Yeovil Town Ladies U10 to U16
Female Development Centre

Yeovil Town Ladies, working in partnership with their educational provider Bridgwater College, are pleased to announce details on the NEW development centre for females

October will see the re-launch of the Team BC and Yeovil Town Ladies FC Female Development Centre

Last seasons female development centre saw many first team players attend to deliver the coaching sessions, including captain Ellie Curson, defender Nicola Cousins, striker Annie Heatherson and midfielder Helen Bleazard.

With first team players also acting as role models, the response to the girls training was exceptional and something which the club is keen to continue. Captain Ellie Curson said “Having worked within the centre for all of last season, the improvement that the girls made was incredible. We worked on a variety of different parts of the game, which has given them a good base to go on and improve lots more.

“There is research out there that says for a player to reach the top, they have to take part in ten thousand of training and playing hours. This centre, will certainly help to contribute towards that and this additional training session per week, will no doubt assist in their development."

Curson went on to say “Whilst we want to ensure that the sessions are challenging and involve lots of learning, we also want to ensure that every player that comes, really enjoys themselves, so our focus is also on making it fun, as this is when learning takes place.”

Players who fit the age groups, are being invited to attend two open training session dates, which are FREE to attend. More details and how to get involved in the Team BC and Yeovil Town Ladies FC female development centre, can be found below.

The Team BC and Yeovil Town Ladies FC Development Centre will give female players between the ages of U10-U16 the opportunity to train and play at a higher level. Being a part of this centre will NOT detract players from playing for their local grass roots club, school, or advanced coaching centre.

Who is it for?

It is aimed at developing talented female players, who want to improve both technically and tactically. There will be age groups at U10’s (school years 4 & 5 from Sept 2016), U12’s (school years 6 & 7 from Sept 2016), U14’s (school years 8 & 9 from Sept 2016) & U16’s (school years 10 & 11 from Sept 2016).

When will training be?

U10 & U12 age groups will train between 6.00-7.30pm and U14 & U16 age groups will train between 7.30-9.00pm.

Where will it be held to?

All sessions will take place at Bridgwater College, where we have access to a range of different facilities, including grass pitches, astro turf pitch, indoor sports hall, classrooms, fully equipped gym, dance studio.

What will training consist of?

Training will be varied in order to develop players all round potential. Sessions will include technical and tactical sessions working to a syllabus of different topics.

Who will take the training sessions?

Each age group will have a head coach who will be a minimum of UEFA B qualified. Each age group will also have an FA Qualified assistant coach.

Will there be matches?

Throughout the season there will be fixture opportunities. These will be friendly matches and played in an environment which will aid the development of players. Some fixtures will be held on training nights, with other fixture opportunities being held on weekends.

Do I have to already be playing for a Yeovil Town Ladies team?

No - the centre is designed to encourage female players from the whole region to come together to take part in a well structured and professional environment, whilst continuing to play for their current school, club team or advanced coaching centre.

Is there a cost?

Yes - the cost per session is £5.00 for the 90 minutes. Payment is due in instalments across the course of the season. Players also have an opportunity to purchase training kit.
